Chinatown, Chicago

Chinatown, Chicago was first settled in 1912. It is believed that the first Chinese citizens arrived after violence became prevalent in western China. The buildings in Chinatown were constructed to visually present the strong Chinese community in this area. The map to the left indicates the area which is known as Chinatown, Chicago. During the mid-1900s, this area began to thrive and business rapidly grew. These businesses include banks, restaurants, grocery stores, and a variety of other stores. There are currently three schools operating in Chinatown, as well as one Library.
